Day 3 - Culture Day!

Today we enjoyed a city tour in Worcester. First out was the beautiful Worcester Cathedral.

Later we had the privilege to attend a Remembrance Day Ceremony where we honoured the soldiers who gave their lives in war with two minutes of silence. It was a beautiful ceremony and we were grateful for being a part of it!

What is Remembrance Day?

Each year in November, the United Kingdom remembers the men and women who gave their lives in the two World Wars and subsequent conflicts.
11 November is known as Armistice Day, Remembrance Day or Poppy Day. From 2014 until 2018, this day takes on added significance as it marks the centenary of the First World War years.
During the First World War, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. In many parts of the world, people observe a two-minute silence at 11am on 11 November.

Day 2 -RR

Today, Tuesday, we went to the Rolls Royce Training Centre, which is located in Derby. With us were some English students from TGA. When we arrived we were separated into groups and guided through their "Heritage department", where they have old aero-engines and cars. After that we were guided through the workshop where the students were trained to be able to work independently for Rolls Royce. We finished with lunch in their cafeteria. We were offered sandwiches and crisps. At the end of the day all the students were satisfied with the visit and everyone was in a good mood. It was a very successful day for everyone.

At Rolls-Royces we were gudied by four apprentices who attended the trainee programme at Rolls-Royce.
RR offers training and development, together with the chance to gain recognised qualifications while earning a competitive salary. As an apprentice or on their sponsored degree programme, the students do a real job alongside experienced professionals and get paid for it.

The apprentices told us that whether you have studied for GCSEs or A-Levels, you'll find apprenticeships can open up a world of opportunities for you. It is much more than an alternative to university: it’s a chance to prove yourself within a company that’s famous all over the world for delivering excellence, thinking innovatively and making the impossible possible.

The apprentices took really good care of us, showed us around and answered our questions.
